In a bid to address escalating tensions in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan engaged in separate discussions with his Egyptian and Qatari counterparts. These meetings come in the wake of recent attacks on Bahrain and growing concerns over the security of maritime routes in the region.
During his conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, both leaders condemned the attacks and highlighted the threats posed to navigation routes. They emphasized the necessity for enhanced cooperation and a reduction in tensions, advocating for a return to diplomatic talks as a means to bolster regional stability.
Similarly, in discussions with Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prince Faisal underscored the importance of safeguarding maritime movements. Both ministers criticized the recent hostile activities and reiterated the need to protect the region’s vital maritime channels.
The talks also touched upon ongoing diplomatic efforts associated with the US-Iran agreement. The ministers expressed their support for these efforts and encouraged further initiatives aimed at achieving broader solutions to enhance security and stability throughout the region.
These discussions are part of broader efforts by Gulf countries to manage and mitigate rising tensions, seeking to prevent any further escalation in the already volatile Middle East landscape.
