Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet has emphasized the critical importance of maintaining freedom of navigation across key regional waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, Bab Al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. During a meeting on Tuesday, the Cabinet urged for the conditions in the Strait of Hormuz to revert to those existing before February 28, advocating for the absence of fees or restrictions. It firmly opposed the use of these essential maritime routes as tools for exerting pressure, issuing threats, or endangering the interests of other nations.
The session also welcomed the recent condemnation by the United Nations Security Council of the escalating attacks against Saudi Arabia by the Houthi rebels. The Cabinet’s discussions extended to broader regional security concerns, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s vested interest in maintaining stability within the region.
On the matter of Palestine, the Cabinet reiterated its position regarding the necessity for a two-state solution. It condemned actions that affect the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and emphasized that lasting peace hinges on establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In addition to regional security and political matters, the Cabinet reviewed Saudi Arabia’s participation in the United Nations General Assembly. It highlighted the Kingdom’s support for international cooperation and multilateral initiatives, underscoring its commitment to global collaboration.
