Saudi Arabia has expressed strong appreciation for U.S. President Donald Trump’s initiative to prioritize diplomatic efforts in resolving the ongoing conflict with Iran. The Kingdom’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, highlighted this sentiment on Wednesday through a social media post. He commended Trump’s decision to pursue a diplomatic path to secure an acceptable agreement aimed at ending hostilities and ensuring the safety and freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, restoring conditions to those prior to February 28th, 2026.

The backdrop to these comments is President Trump’s recent announcement that he had postponed a planned military strike on Iran. This decision, Trump’s statement confirmed, was made after consultations with leaders from Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, who urged him to allow ongoing negotiations to progress. Trump revealed these developments through a message on Truth Social, emphasizing that significant diplomatic discussions were underway.

Prince Faisal’s remarks underscored the Kingdom’s optimism that Iran will capitalize on this diplomatic opportunity to avoid further escalation of tensions. He urged Tehran to engage constructively in negotiations, aiming for a comprehensive agreement that would secure lasting peace and stability not only in the region but globally as well.

In addition to acknowledging the role of U.S. diplomacy, Prince Faisal also praised Pakistan for its efforts to mediate the conflict. The Foreign Minister’s comments reflect a broader regional desire for peaceful resolution and stability, highlighting the importance of collaborative diplomatic efforts in addressing complex geopolitical challenges in the Middle East.
