by admin477351

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have formalized a new agreement to enhance regional connectivity through improvements in rail and power grid infrastructure. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and UAE Investment Minister Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, focuses on electricity interconnection and rail transport, aiming to boost energy efficiency and facilitate cross-border trade.

The agreement outlines plans for cooperation in electricity grid interconnection, which includes the exchange and sales of electricity, as well as the development of a rail network between the two countries. This initiative is expected to not only strengthen infrastructure integration but also generate mutual economic benefits for both nations.

In addition to bilateral efforts, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will collaborate with other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to expand the regional electricity interconnection network. The expanded network aims to enhance energy-system efficiency and foster greater integration and cooperation among GCC countries.

The MoU also sets general principles for rail connectivity, focusing on the transportation and transit of goods and freight in both directions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. This proposed rail cooperation is anticipated to improve logistics networks, increase supply-chain efficiency, and facilitate cross-border cargo movement.

By reinforcing transport and energy links, Saudi Arabia and the UAE aim to support broader economic development, expand regional trade, and deepen cooperation across the Gulf region. The initiatives undertaken through this agreement reflect a shared commitment to advancing infrastructure and economic ties between the two neighboring countries.
