FREELANDER is redefining its identity in response to the evolving landscape of mobility, where the focus is increasingly on experiences enhanced by intelligent technology, connectivity, and adaptable lifestyles. As the automotive industry undergoes significant transformations, FREELANDER is poised to emerge as a premium brand in intelligent mobility, catering to the needs of contemporary drivers on a global scale.

The original Land Rover Freelander made its debut in 1997, combining off-road prowess with comfort and versatility, a blend that resonated well with consumers. This model quickly became synonymous with freedom and adventure, playing a pivotal role in shaping the urban off-road SUV segment. From 1997 to 2002, it consistently topped sales charts in Europe, cementing its status as a prominent British SUV and reflecting the growing consumer desire for vehicles that offered both exploration and comfort.

Fast forward nearly thirty years, and FREELANDER is once again evolving. At the IBS (Chery International Business Summit), the brand was officially relaunched as a premium British intelligent all-terrain brand, a collaborative effort between Jaguar Land Rover and Chery. This initiative aims to marry the brand’s storied heritage with cutting-edge technologies and luxury mobility experiences, a move indicative of broader shifts within the automotive sector where demand for connected, versatile vehicles is on the rise.

FREELANDER has ambitious plans to introduce six new SUV models over the next five years, expanding its presence to over 90 countries with more than 1,100 touchpoints globally. The Middle East has been identified as a strategic market for the brand, highlighting the region’s significance in the premium automotive space and its increasing appetite for intelligent mobility solutions. The FREELANDER 8 exemplifies the brand’s new direction, featuring advanced cockpit technologies, immersive interaction systems, and seating designed for optimal comfort and connectivity.

Manufacturing for FREELANDER will take place at the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Intelligent Manufacturing Base, the first Jaguar Land Rover production facility outside the UK. This state-of-the-art plant employs over 1,100 robots and cutting-edge technologies to ensure quality and consistency in vehicle production. The company’s commitment to intelligent robotics and green manufacturing is a testament to its vision of producing premium intelligent vehicles for an international market. Through its transformation, FREELANDER is set to redefine intelligent mobility and continue its legacy of innovation in the SUV market.
